The city placed in northeastern Spain – Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia. It is the 2nd largest Spanish city located in the comarca of Barcelonès, along the Mediterranean coast between the mouths of the rivers Llobregat and Besòs. Barcelona is the major port, and industrial, commercial, cultural and educational center of Spain.

Barcelona really is one of the fines cities of the world. It is one of the most celebrated destinations of Europe. The Spanish jewel – Barcelona is purple destination for art & architecture, museums, churches & cathedrals, parks & gardens, and vibrant nightlife.

Barcelona is very famous for the wonderful architectural creations of Antoni Gaudí including Park Güell, Sagrada Familia, Casa Batlló, Casa Milà or La Pedrera, and Colonia Guell. The most famous works of Gaudi – Sagrada Familia has been under construction since 1882. Casa Milà or La Pedrera, one of the best works by Antoni Gaudi was recognized as a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1984.

Barcelona is also known for the modernist Architecture designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner. Palau de la Música Catalana, one of the famous works of Lluís Domènech i Montaner, was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1997.

Barcelona’s museums & art galleries are one of the major attractions of the city. Barcelona has a large number of museums. Some of the most notable museums include the Picasso Museum, Museu d'Història de Catalunya (Catalonia's Museum of History), Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona (Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art), Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya, The Museum of the City of Barcelona, The Museum de l'Eròtica de Barcelona on La Rambla, L'Aquarium (the second biggest aquaurium of Europe), Catalan Archaeological Museum, Catalan Ethnographical Museum, Museum of Natural History, L'Aquarium, and Military Museum.

Other attractions of Barcelona include La Rambla (the most famous boulevard in Barcelona), Plaça d'Espanya, The Gothic Quarter – the Cathedral of Santa Eulàlia and the Gothic Church of Santa Maria del Pi, San Pau del Camp (a romanesque church), La Plaça Reial (a beautiful square located next to La Rambla), Olympic stadium, FC Barcelona (notable sports club), Zoo-Barcelona (located in Parc de la Ciudadella), and Monestir de Pedralbes (a beautiful Gothic monastery near the university).
